Schumann measurements in Oulu

The Oulu group is currently investigating the possibility to measure the ionospheric Schumann resonances in the Oulu region. The first instrument measuring the vertical electric field component has been built and is currently in test use in Kiiminki (figure on the right).

The continuous data collection has not yet been started. However, the preliminary results show that the sensor is able to to register at least the three lowest Schumann frequencies, 7.8, 14, and 20 Hz.
